Ohev Sholom Storm Damage- May 2011

One of two century-old elm trees being removed by LT Land and Tree Service

The severe Harrisburg weather in May 2011 toppled many trees in the area, including two large elm trees that have shaded Temple Ohev Sholom for nearly 100 years.  Fortunately, no one was injured, and the damage was limited to landscaping, some outdoor lighting, fences, and the trees themselves.  The Temple has set up a special fund to defray the costs associated with tree removal, repairs to the property, and eventually the replanting of new trees.  Anyone who is interested in making a contribution to the fund should contact the Temple office at (717) 233-6459, or email Rabbi Kessler at rabbi@ohevsholom.org.

The second photo shows the Temple web master standing next to the elm tree to give a size perspective of how large the tree was.  A tree replanting ceremony will be held at a future time.
