A generous Temple Ohev Sholom family has established a new temple fund to help provide scholarships for member children who wish to attend the URJ’s Reform "Camp Harlam", in Kunkeltown, PA, or wish to attend a youth trip to Israel sponsored by a Jewish organization.

The following are the requirements to be considered for a scholarship:

  1. Applicants must be sons/daughters of members in good standing of Temple Ohev Sholom.

  2. Applicants must submit a 100 word essay describing their desire to attend Camp Harlam or take part in a youth sponsored Israel trip.

  3. Scholarships are only available to Camp Harlam or youth trips to Israel for students in high school. They are not available to other camps or Israel trips for college-age students. (College students are encouraged to apply to Birthright Israel for free trips to Israel)

Essays need to be sent to the Camp Harlam/Israel Scholarship Fund at our temple office, accompanied by a letter from the applicant’s parent or guardian. Deadline to be considered for 2008 Scholarships is February 5, 2008.

This fund is open to contributions from anyone who wishes to help provide funds for our youth who wish to broaden their Jewish experiences through camp and visits to Israel. Send donations to the Camp Harlam Israel Scholarship fund, checks made payable to "Temple Ohev Sholom".
